photoshop

I need to buy a new photoshop.  The program that I was trying to use is for windows only.
I'm trying to figure out what I do need.

Can I get away with using photoshop elements?  I'm finding that most things I do I can easily to in elements.
But sometimes I do print work for Salons...I may need to stick with photoshop, I just need to find it for my pretty macbook.

ugh what to do.
