Here is a glimpse into my favorite date night of the year!

Weddings are all about love.

Well, I've been looking online at dresses for the past few months.  (I still haven't dared to try any on)  I have fallen in love with one.  I looked up the closest retailer and it is in Lebanon, MO.

When do you get to the point where it is okay to drive over 5 hours in one day to try on one dress?  Because I might be there.

The funny thing is that I've "fallen in love with a dress" at all.  I did my internship at a bridal shop.  Ever since then I've always told people that wedding dresses are over rated and usually consultants talk you into buying their favorite dress.  (That's what I did!) I also always thought that I didn't have the personality of someone who would look at a pile of fabric and think, "That's the one!"  I never felt that way when looking at prom dresses.  I usually just found a dress that worked for the time.  But I've really fallen for this dress!
I really want to show everyone too, but I have to leave a little bit of mystery!

Reason why I love Florissant #41

Last weekend Brian's family had a surprise party for his mom's 50th birthday. Brian's dad rented out Old St. Ferdinand Shrine. ( The party was in the school house.) Brian and I were there for an hour in between setting up and party time guarding equipment and such. There were signs all over for a book sale on the second floor of the school house. I looked around and found that they have a book sale every Saturday morning and all proceeds go to keeping up the shrine. I went up there and found 8 awesome books. The total cost was $2.00. I left the crisp bills on a desk up there. Hope they found it.

From the Bookshelf for Boys and Girls: Things to Make and Things to Do Volume 5 (1963)
-The inside cover alone makes me drool. I am seriously considering doing the activities in this book and blogging about them. It's just that cool.


Science in our World by Herman and Nina Schneider Book 5 (1961)
-I want to do these experiments and read this book! Part of me thinks it's interesting and wonders what has changed and yet another part of me knows that I can't remember anything from this book anyway. I would just benefit from reading this. I hope I can differentiate any old out of date information from stuff that is still true.

I LOVE FLORISSANT. It is cute and quaint. It has a Native American day this weekend. In some ways it feels like a smaller town than Cape Girardeau, but has all the perks of being 20 minutes away from the city. I miss you Florissant.

December is Over, Hallelujah

oh yeah, and Happy New Year.

I had a really busy and stressful month. I had a lot to do at work. I had papers to finish for school. I graduated. I made all of my Christmas presents. I got the flu. I gave everyone I know the flu. I some how managed to dread Christmas this year! I know! When Christmas Day rolled around I found it to be the best yet. It was a relaxed day filled with family, laughing, and food (even though my tummy wasn't fully recovered from the flu yet). It was so so GOOD! I loved celebrated Jesus's birth with my family and truly enjoying the joy of the moment.

Yesterday, New Years Eve, I had a fabulous time with my boyfriend. He took me up in the arch! Then we went shopping and met up with my friend Alicia (an old college roommate). After I bought Brian some Christmas shoes we went grocery shopping and ran into more friends Betty and Jason. We then took pizza fixin's home and brought in the new year with Ashley and Nate!

Lauren's Mann

Here is a little neccessary catch up to get to the point of the picture:

I moved a little less than two weeks ago, my mannequin has been in a pile of pieces until two days ago, and my friends Lauren and Betty came over to my house last night to hangout and eat roast. I asked Lauren if she wanted to pick out an outfit for my manne. She was a little bit excited about it and here is what she picked. I love it. I think I'll wear it to the first day of my new job. Yep, I'm going through a lot of changes that I'm fairly excited about. But, if you were wondering here is what has not changed: I still live with my parents and I'm still dating my boyfriend. Two things that I've become very comfortable with.

Aloe please

I love Wednesdays. Wednesdays are the days that I don't have class. The only thing I usually do is read for my Thursday class. Today was a particularly good Wednesday because the class that always has reading due is canceled tomorrow! So I took it upon myself to get up and out and enjoy the beautiful weather. The weather was 67 degrees and windy. Obviously this is the perfect time to go layout.
I laid out in the back yard in my bathing suit and as soon as I would start to get hot in the sun a large gust of wind came to cool me down. I laid there and listened to Prince Caspian on my ipod, quite contently. And that's how I ended up spending 2 hours in the sun and now I look like a tomato. I hurt. I'm laying in bed and the heat from this laptop is burning my tender legs. I need some aloe.

The Great Flood of 2008

The water has arrived.
I don't know where you have been, but in the midwest it has been raining and raining hard constantly for the last few days. Many of the local schools were canceled because the country roads were closed due to road closings.
I have a friend who's apartment is essentially in a basement and he had 5 inches of standing water and moved out and found a new place to live!
Our basement flooded and now the whole house STINKS.

So anyways, I went to the river to get a look.

In Cape Girardeau we have this pretty neat levy system. (I think it is a levy) It is basically a big cement wall.

Water was all the way up to the wall today.

The City of Cape Girardeau closed the gates at the big wall because the river is soo high!

This picture shows that there is 60 feet of space from the water to the bridge.
