Check out these lovely earrings I got for my birthday from Erika Kirkland.  These lovely wood earrings are hand painted and all completely individual!  What lovely colors!  Unfortunately there is no place online to purchase these at the moment.  If that changes I'll let you know!

Consignment

I had a lot of my goods in a consignment / bead shop since this past winter; Bizzy Beads.
Sadly the owner has decided to stop selling the consignment goods and focus on the beads to better her business.  This is kind of exciting news for me.  Now I have all of my product back.  I can beef up my etsy shop.  I'm really excited to get started.
Today I decided to have a photo shoot.
It was semi successful.  It was so bright out I couldn't tell if I was getting any good shots.  Some were great!  Some were ok.  Here is a shot of some of my kids headbands!

Handmade Gifts

People generally make the mistake of thinking that home-made gifts are economical.

They're not.

I love to crochet!  I do it because I think it is fun.  It gives me a sense of accomplishment.  I love to crochet gifts for people.  I think about that person while I crochet for hours.   It gives me such joy to give those time consuming gifts to people I love.

All that to say, buying the yarn for my crocheted gifts usually average $20-$30.  A simple gift like a blanket takes me 6 hours.  Complicated gifts like animals take me forever!  I love it.  Pictures like this make me want to cry they are so precious.

Sewing on the other hand might be economical.  I can always find fabric discounted or being practically given away and making something like a tiny dress or romper, usually only take a couple of hours!  I might start sewing more...  I don't know?

Hand-Made Sunday

I'm making some fabric bunting for the wedding.  I'm making a lot so I wanted to make it in a time efficient manner.  Here's how I'm doing it...

Here was all the supplies that I needed to make the wedding bunting.

After buying the fabric that I wanted to make my flags out of I found this pinking shear shaped rotary cutter.  It would have taken me a full day of cutting fabric to get all of the flags with my pinking shears.  This rotary cutter only took me one distracted hour while watching Gilmore Girls.

I should have taken a better picture of the flags because each pile is about 2 inches tall of fabric!  That's a LOT of flags.

I use this bias tape to sew the flags too.  Double fold really looks much better than the single fold.  I bought this on accident.  It cost considerably less than the double fold, so I'm not that upset about it.  You saw how many flags I have, so I'm going to need a lot of that tape!

It's really too much of a hassle to pin the flags to the tape, so I just take it as it comes.  I line up the end of the flag under the fold of the flag.  I put my needle in it and then line up the rest of the flag.  I used a zigzag stitch because it's cute and I think it will hold well.

I just keep it lined up by holding it together with my fingers.

Here is the end result!  It's a line of flags.  They are going to add a lot to make that wedding atmosphere in my outdoor wedding.

I went to Anthropologie the other day and started to admire their awesome Christmas stuff, so handmade looking!


So I thought, gee I can have my own awesome homemade looking Christmas too!


First I crocheted these snowflakes. I saw them on one of my favorite blogs. I made them into ornaments by adding loops with red yarn.


Then I got an idea for my gift tags this year. I sewed on buttons to tags and tied red yarn in a bow at the end.

When I looked at my little Christmas tree in my room, it needed a topper. So This morning I crocheted a long piece of fabric and tied a bow topper for my tree.

This afternoon I sought my embroidery thread and felt and made this cute little bird ornament. I want to make more of these, so who knows if I will.

I'm kind of thinking of giving my Christmas ornaments away as Christmas gifts too. I haven't decided yet.
