So I did learn something in College

In College I took a course on trends. I know that I was a fashion merchandising major and you're probably thinking it was all about the newest colors and hem lines. I won't lie to you, we did talk about those things a little bit and how easy it is to predict what will be in fashion next season. But most of what we talked about was trends in the business world. It was something that I found really fascinating. So I occasionally look up trend reports, like Sunday morning I found an interesting article. It is something that I had been considering for a few years now.

It was about "foreverism." The idea that the way social networking sites are set up now, you will have them forever. Your photos, contacts, blogs will be on these sites forever. I've always wondered about that. Will I be on facebook when I am 85 years old to find out which of my friends are dying? Will my kids be my friend and see pictures documenting my daily life in college?

I always kind of thought that once facebook or blogger got overloaded with a trillion photos, and posts it would crash and wipe everything away and we would all have to start over again. I don't think that would be a terrible thing. It might be refreshing or even cleansing. I imagine it would happen several times in my life.

But I can't imagine deleting my profile on facebook in the forseeable future.

To bring it full circle, it's funny how this effects fashion. Fans can follow their favorite designers on twitter, and know exactly when new lines are coming out. Maybe someday as a visual merchandiser it will be up to me to update the store's twitter to let tweens all over the city know that "we have the new promo dresses for $9.50, here is a pic."

A Tail of Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

I got to make some tails for the Clayton Community Theatre's The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.

In case you are wondering they are: skunk, fox, fox, squirrel, deer, deer, deer, bear, and rabbit.

Another Infomercial

I wish this was a joke. I was reading The Cut this morning while catching up on my blogs and read about this summer's snuggie is the wearable towel. One thing that snuggie has over the wearable towel is that snappy name. The wearable towel should get a better marketing director.

My favorite part is at the very end, when the boy is wearing the blue "toga Style" towel leaning on his golden retriever. HAHA

Music in the Morning

I just bought Lisa Hannigan's latest album Sea Sew. I had seen her videos on all of my favorite craft blogs and just decided, how could I not love this girl and want to support her?

I just realized she kind of looks like my last post, eek. I hate that I'm a victim of peripheral advertisement.

Vintage Thursday

So while I was with Betty yesterday we also went shopping! I got this awesome dress and this green suitcase. The dress fits me really well. It buttons up the back with quarter sized white buttons, and it has pockets! I'm also wearing a belt that was my grandma's and vintage pearls from my great aunt Irene. The suitcase is actually in really good condition, the lining is intact and a bright green silk. I love it! So here is my Sally Jane Vintage inspire photo shoot.

Betty Day

Today was Betty Day. A few friends and I went to the loop and watched Betty get her first tattoo, how rad is that?

She was super nervous but pulled through. I was NOT a good help, I never know what to do when people aren't feeling up to par. I made one of our friends go calm her down.

Anyhow I thought that being at the tattoo parlor would make me want a tattoo really badly. I found that it affirmed the fact that I really don't want one. There is nothing in this world that could make me want to have a picture or words written on me forever. I'm just a little too straight-edge for that.

PS. I've been describing myself as straight-edge a lot lately. So i just looked it up on my favorite website, dictionary.com, to make sure that it is something that I want to describe myself as and here is the definition, "–adjective advocating abstinence from alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, and sex and sometimes advocating vegetarianism."
So that pegged me on the nose and even called out my lackluster attempts to be a vegetarian "sometimes."

Day 5

I made it! I wore a dress all week.

Then Monday and Tuesday I happily wore my jeans...who knew how much I loved variety.

Day 4

Just relaxing by the pool in my fourth day of wearing dresses. It was an interesting day to say the least...lets just say the dress pictured got to be in a quasi renegade fashion show today.

Day 3

Another shirt dress. I really was on my computer even though it looks like it's not on.

I thought I would love wearing a dress everyday but I think I just love the option of wearing a dress everyday. I dress on emotion, and I definitely don't feel like wearing dresses everyday but it's still fun.

A Dress for Everyday

I'm wearing a dress everyday this week...when I got up this morning at 5 am it was really hard not to put on a pair of jeans, but the silky zebra print prevailed.

Mark all as read

I did it....

I marked all 1000+ as read.

It makes me sad that I could not keep up with normal life while doing overnights. Here is what I imagined I missed...

Some wicked giveaways...probably an awesome anthropologie tea towel (yeah I said AWESOME).
New actions to put into my photoshop.
Summer crafts.
New crochet stitches
Inspiration for decorating my room.
The latest graffiti inspired instillation art.
Hilarious cake wrecks.
The latest in anti-homemade goods law news.
The latest street fashion in New York, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Washington D.C., London, and Seattle.
Spring recipes.
And basically more tips on how to turn my blog into a mega-successful money making machine!

"alas earwax" I've marked all as read.
-are you sure?
Don't ask me again, mark all as read.

Reason #5 why I love my iphone...

Yep this is really in my top 5 reasons why I love my iphone.

I really like to read books that I'm not smart enough to read.

(I attribute this to my piano teacher Mrs. Amermann who made me play songs that were too advanced for me. But once I meddled through it I found such a great sense of accomplishment I felt the need to add this within other parts of my life.)

People are also generally surprised at my inarticulacy, bad spelling and lack of grammar in proportion for my love of reading.

What this all really led to was a very heavy purse which always had the book I was currently reading, and a pocket dictionary and a pocket thesaurus (which I asked for on my birthday during high school).
Ah, but now I have an iphone! My favorite application is dictionary.com! Here is a list of the words that I looked up just during the last 100 pages of Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

pneumatic
indecorous
sepulchral
bumptious
dolichocephalic
neurasthenia
coquettish

Such a beautiful language. Now I even know how to pronounce the words and their many forms because my dictionary.com app says the words out loud for me.

Ahh technology.(which is a very ironic statement to write after reading Brave New World.)
