Launa is a hula dancer from Hawaii.


Launa doesn't dance at pig roasts, only vegetarian luaus. She is vegetarian herself.


Launa volunteers with animal rescue. This is her loving on a wildcat.

Meet Kayleigh

Kayleigh is a college student who walks to class everyday.


She usually walks to the library to print off her homework. On rainy days she sees Annie.


Kayleigh likes to crochet and even crocheted the scarf that she is wearing. She often brings her yarn and crochet hook everywhere she goes.


Today Kayleigh is going to learn how to do felt crafts.

New Blog Name

My Blog name used to be, "Getting Started." I just thought that I would be blogging about college life and all of that jazz. I did do that in the beginning, but who wants to read about that. My college life isn't all that exciting. I ended up blogging about the crafty things that I make. I usually sketch some little characters and make them out of some kind of fiber, whether it be a dress from fabric or a crochet octopus. So Getting Started became Fiber Sketchbook. My blog readers get to see my sketchbook in fibrous form.

Julien

Julien is a lifeguard


Julien thinks that using a whistle is probably the coolest part of his job.


From Julien's high lifeguard tower he yells at kids to stop running and get their candy wrappers out of the pool.


Cleaning the pool is probably the worst part of Julien's job, but it usually gives him a chance to sneak over to where Bella is laying out... so that makes it his favorite part of the day.

Ignacio

Ignacio also goes by Iggy. He loves horticulture.


Iggy loves to grow all kinds of plants and trees and is interested in biology.



Iggy has never wanted to be Superman, or Batman. Iggy has always wanted to be Iggy-Bee.


Iggy-Bee would be a Super Bee who saved the world through pollination and supplying oxygen to all!


After a long days of work and play Ignacio takes off his costume and likes to take naps on top of his floral comforter. It isn't feminine bedding; it is professional.

Old Green People

Today I went to Walgreen's to buy blow-pens, of course. While I was standing in line to pay for my new blow-pens I had to wait behind an 80ish year old woman who was buying stockings, of course. The 68ish year-old sales lady asked the old woman if she wanted to buy a green reusable grocery bag for 99cents. The old woman thought that was a great idea (for she was going on a trip soon) and decided to buy the reusable bag. The sales lady puts the stockings in a plastic bag in the reusable bag. Just wanted to share that with you...

H is for Hannah

Hannah is a mermaid who loves water and the land equally, for she is a child of the earth and water.


In the hot afternoons she lays by the waterfall. She loves the feel of the salty mist on her fins.


In the mornings she lays on rocks in the lagoon. Here she warms up from the coolness of night.

G is for Gus

Gus loves science and took every physics class he could while in high school and just started his first college physics class today!



Gus loves chemistry, he took AP honors Chemistry while in high school but was too afraid of failure to take the AP exam.


Gus may love science, but he can't handle biology. The thought of blood makes him faint.

Fran

Fran is a little too old to play with dolls, so instead she makes doll clothes for fun and insists that it is more grown up than actually playing with them.


Fran learned how to sew by watching her mother.



Fran still plays with the dolls that she makes clothes for, you know, when no one is watching.

Ernie

Ernie likes to cruise around the hood.

Ernie likes to hangout on the stoop and holla at the neighbors.


This is Ernie's BFF Jeffrey, Ernie thought Jeff was posing for the picture too.

Darla

Darla is famous for making the most delicious pies!


Darla not only prides herself in baking but also in her decorating abilities.

Cameron

Cameron is a self-proclaimed artist from Texas.


His true passion is photography. He's been playing with digital media lately.


He wears his stripped sweater, hat, and scarf as a necessity because he is always cold.


Cameron's glasses are a fashion statement, his vision is 20/15.

Bella

Bella has a heart-shaped belly button and loves to lay under the sun and get tan.



Whenever Bella lays-out she wears her red bikini that matches her red highlights.


Today Bella listened to an audiobook on her ipod. It was The Water Mirror by Kai Meyer.

Bella loves the sun and her sparkly bikini that matches her hair.

Annie

Annie spends rainy days at the library.

Annie doesn't take off her rain coat and hat while looking for interesting books.

Annie browses through ethnic decor books.


Annie reads about symbolism in African rugs.

Annie's practical book of oriental rugs.

It was a good day for Annie, she loves to learn new things.
