One Down

I finished the hat I was planning on making. I had to take a break from the afghan I'm working on because I had a little bit of yarn fiasco...aka couldn't find the right color and had to order it online. So while watching the today show i started to crochet. I only had 3 rows left to do when I can home from work.

I like it...It's a little small for me, but I kind of have a big head so I don't think it was the pattern's fault. The pattern I used can be found here. I found this through the crochet pattern central directory.

Projects Galore!

Okay so last week I had a funny dream...

If you know me at all this would not surprise you. I have the oddest most vivid dreams every night.

Anyway this one was about me not getting my books in time to go to class, and basically the usual stressful dream about trying to get to a class but never really getting there because there are always obstacles in the way. Anyways I fitfully tried to wake myself up with the reassurance that it was a just a dream but I remembered that I hadn't ordered my books yet! and classes must be starting soon! The truth of the matter was that classes were in fact starting the very next day but I am not signed up for any of them, because I graduated a month ago. I had to tell myself that I was never taking classes again...and I started to panic a little bit...What?!?!?! what will I do with my life?

So I started a few projects...So now I have crafting supplies strewn about my room and partially started projects thrown about as well.

I think I went into project over load. But the idea of them is really fun. So here is the inspiration for a few of the projects I had started...
This comes from an awesome blog by called Attic24 by Lucy.

This comes from an amazing blog that I've been reading for a long time, Wee Wonderfuls written by Hillary.

I found a pattern to make these hats, i plan to omit the bill... at this website that I have used since I started to crochet and is a great resource for people wanting free patterns...Crochet Pattern Central.

Project Runway's most famous challenges of creating garments out of unconventional items....

These are the inspirations for what I have lying on my floor right now... Stay tuned to see finished projects.

My one shot on political writing

There is one thing that President Obama did undoubtedly right during his campaign. He branded himself extremely well. My favorite was this poster.
It's so classic. It reminds me of 1940's political propaganda. It'll go in the history books as the first Black President of the United States and it will fit in with the other pages of the history book. I like it. It was made to last.

So I made my own.
You can make your own Obama iconic poster here at Obamiconme.pastemagazine.com.

Red Tights

Here is a screen print of my flickr page. I don't know if you can see this but most of my pictures have 2-3 views and then there is a picture with the caption..."The two Graduates...Yep, I'm wearing red tights...awesome" This picture has 34 views!

So I noticed this big jump a while back and wondered what the big deal was. Do people search "red tights?" So I decided to do it and 5,511 photos came up.

Here were four of my favorites...

So this is a picture of Blair or Leighton Meester aka my fashion icon right now. The outfit I wore for my graduation looked exactly like this one and I called it my Gossip Girl outfit. I haven't even seen this episode! I'm kind of proud of myself in some twisted way. I'm a shameful Gossip Girl advocate and I don't even watch all the episodes! I've been working so much this television season I'm going to have to rent the latest season.

working at the mall gets me stuff like this...

So I saved this HUGE poster from the dumpster! I made a few Christmas presents out of this but of course I did not take pictures of the final projects because I finished them at 6 am on Christmas morning.

I made a sleeve for my computer by weaving this vinyl poster.

Here is the back view.

Here is the front. You can see the sections of a jacket zipper.

Help...

It's a new year and it is time for a new project. You may recall the last project I did. I want to do something like that again. I want to do another series project. During church tonight I was doodling more finger puppet ideas. I'm not sure I want to do finger puppets.

One of my ideas was to make a finger puppet representing each state. For example Alaska would have a parka on. Alabama would be a girl with daisy dukes and blond pigtails. The only downside to that is that there is 50! I might end up only doing Illinois and Michigan.

Another idea was to make finger puppets of family members. I'd only hope not to offend anyone.

I also have some interesting vinyl that I might try making a wallet out of or something like that.

I think I need some fresh new ideas. So leave a comment and tell me what you think! Please.

Wedding Bliss

I love all things weddings. Weddings are so romantic, filled with so much drama and emotion. All my favorite things get amplified when there is a wedding version of them. For example: My favorite parts of AFV (America's Funniest Home Videos) is when bride's veils catch on fire during ceremonies...I know who'd think that happened often enough to get it's own AFV montage. My second favorite think to watch on AFV is old people dancing and falling down at the wedding reception. My two favorite blogs are cake wrecks and once wed. I watch the style channel a lot and I watch Who's Wedding is it Anyway whenever it is on. My internship this past summer was with David's Bridal.

So when my best friend got engaged I may have gotten a little more than excited. I am just a witness to her awesome vision for what she wants her wedding to be like. Which is exactly were I want to be. I am getting to ask her questions and she very lovingly obliges to my persistence. I feel like all of my favorite things are happening in real life and I'm so excited!

Don't misunderstand me though...I do NOT wish for my best friend's veil to catch on fire during the ceremony, I want her cake to be beautiful. I do kind of want to see an old person fall down at her reception though, as long as no hips a broken.

So back to what this is really about...Ashley is letting her bridesmaids pick different dresses from a line of bridesmaid's dresses. This excites me. My loving boyfriend who is sooo glad that I don't work for David's Bridal anymore (because that somehow made our relationship unhealthy...hmm) gave me photoshop for Christmas! I probably will never do anything crazy with it. I'm just trying to learn it right now. But...here are my top 4 picks from the Charsa Designs collection.
What I took away from my slow learning of photoshop experience was deleting backgrounds, and changing spacing on fonts. I also learned a lot of the shortcuts which is a necessity.

December is Over, Hallelujah

oh yeah, and Happy New Year.

I had a really busy and stressful month. I had a lot to do at work. I had papers to finish for school. I graduated. I made all of my Christmas presents. I got the flu. I gave everyone I know the flu. I some how managed to dread Christmas this year! I know! When Christmas Day rolled around I found it to be the best yet. It was a relaxed day filled with family, laughing, and food (even though my tummy wasn't fully recovered from the flu yet). It was so so GOOD! I loved celebrated Jesus's birth with my family and truly enjoying the joy of the moment.

Yesterday, New Years Eve, I had a fabulous time with my boyfriend. He took me up in the arch! Then we went shopping and met up with my friend Alicia (an old college roommate). After I bought Brian some Christmas shoes we went grocery shopping and ran into more friends Betty and Jason. We then took pizza fixin's home and brought in the new year with Ashley and Nate!
